Today I had really hoped to take Mark to the pool. The weather was so iffy I went back and forth. So finally after Mark's nap we headed to the pool. It wasn't the best day for the pool, but holding Mark all wrapped up in his towel was the best. Then I saw my friend Mildred. Mildred's four kids were probably the first family I had ever babysat for in Bowling Green. I spent many hours with this family... cleaning, caring for the kids, chatting with Mildred, making birthday cakes. I was their Miss Kelly. And I hadn't seen them in probably a year just because things get busy. And running in to them today at the pool was no coincidence. When it was finally time to go, Mildred started tearing up as she told me what an impact I had made on her children. I was glad I was wearing sunglasses. And of course I will keep in touch, but its the people in our lives that have helped make Bowling Green home.
And as I type that I'm reminded that its not so much about the town as it is the people in our lives.
