Home, Car

A few updates for you today. The first is that my parent's are getting the house in Bowling Green. After the inspection several minor things came up adding up to a couple major things. They went ahead and requested that those things be taken care of they would not have a deal. To their surprise, they sellers agreed. Work started on the house today! I'm very happy for mom and dad. I think they will love Bowling Green and will be very happy with their home. Really, I'm just looking forward to having them settle back down. Its kind of been stressful at times for them being in that limbo stage, which I can definitely relate to. And I will get to act as their official interior designer. Of course that means a couple trips down to BG this winter, but I think I can manage that. ;)

The next update is related to our car accident back in March. Here's a refresher... We were hit in BG while Mark, the boy I nannied for, and I were taking Nathan to school. The other driver was at fault and caused just under $3000 damage to our Mazda. Over the next few hours or day we realized that the driver of the car was uninsured and driving on a suspended license, driving his girlfriend's car which was not insured. They started out say, "Oh yeah we're going to do the right thing and pay for the damage." That quickly went down the drain. They strung me a long for a while. I did what I could do through the city, but not much happened. Long story short... we still haven't seen a dime.

So yesterday I made a few phone calls and informed the two owners of the car, the girl and her grandfather, that if they do not begin making payments we will immediately begin taking legal action. That finally woke her up because she didn't want to drag her grandfather into the mess... finally a smart decision. Now let me just say... I sympathize with her as a human being. I understand financial stress. I understand that we all make mistakes. BUT we also have to take responsibility for our mistakes. Apparently people will get insurance, get their insurance card, then cancel their policy. To the cops, they have what appears to be a valid insurance card. I was the one who found that their policy was canceled. So I understand the stress and headache, but we agreed that court was only going to making things ever more of a mess for everyone. So she agreed to begin sending $150 a month beginning January. She also agreed to signing a written agreement. Hopefully this will stick.

Nathan and I had a great day yesterday... one of those days where you just can't stop smiling. It was just a really great day. Today, I think I woke up on the wrong side of the bed, but overall we are really enjoying our time together. I do miss Anya though. I love my 'normal' days. But I will enjoy these next few days with Nathan. (Nathan works 2-10 this week, so I pretty much get to spend almost the entire day with him before he has to go to work, then I get the evening to clean or relax or read!)
