I should be in bed and not blogging at almost 11:30 on a work night, but I wanted to give you a quick update on everything after my latest Dr. appointment on Tuesday. In a nutshell... I received the referral I was hoping for. I said that I'd pretty much go with whoever Dr. Powell recommended. Well that Dr. was Dr. Shamma in Saginaw. I just read Dr. Shamma's educational and professional background... and was quite pleased with all that I read from the IVF Michigan website:
"Dr. Shamma has over 300 lectures on obstetrics, gynecology, reproductive endocrinology, and infertility to his credit. He is a recipient of the Sergey Polivanov Memorial Scholarship from Catholic University, and the Andrew Friedman OB/GYN Award from Yale University.
Dr. Shamma received his medical degree with High Distinction from the American University of Beirut graduating first in his class. He completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Yale-New Haven Medical Center, where he was the Chief Resident in his final year. Following his residency he was a Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Fellow in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Shamma is board certified in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. He is also a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
In addition to his role at IVF Michigan, he holds the following appointments:
Assistant Professor, Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, Saginaw Campus, Saginaw, Michigan.
Associate Director, Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Saginaw Cooperative Hospitals, Inc., Saginaw, Michigan.
Dr. Shamma has published over 25 journal articles, and 25 scientific abstracts. He is also the editor of Ovulation Induction, published in July 2000 by the Infertility and Reproductive Medicine Clinics of North America."
As I said, I am quite pleased with Dr. Shamma and I am looking forward to being his patient. Now there's definitely more I need to blog about, but I'll hopefully get some time soon. And it looks like our next step is the laparoscopic surgery to get a detailed picture of what's up with my tubes which Dr. Powell said is very necessary.
Goodnight.
