Phew. What a day its been... and its only three o'clock.
I got to Anya's today at the normal time, 7:30. Linda left and I read while Anya continued to sleep. She woke up as normal, but after about a half hour she started getting fussy, which is not like her. I continued on with the day, attempting formula with no success. So... I offered her milk... which she normally would have gulped down. Nope. She ate 2 oz and became upset. (And please note this is the abbreviated version.) She quickly fell asleep. Less than an hour later, I see her (on the monitor) wake up, vomiting... a lot. I immediately ran into the nursery as she was chocking on the vomit. (Oh and I apologize if this grosses you out.) I turned her on her side and helped her as she threw up again. It was not 'spit up.' I quickly new something wasn't right. So I get her in the bath tub and cleaned her up... where she threw up again. Long story short... she continued to throw up about every ten minutes... while it began to change in consistency. I called the school to let Linda know what was going on. My initial, biggest fear was dehydration because the small amount she ate... was gone. Linda rushed home. Oh and get this... the school secretary walked down to Linda's room so that she wouldn't be panicked by a page. She said, "Linda, don't panic, everything is OK, but your nanny called and needs you to call home." Well of course Linda's response was, "Everything is not OK!" So she called the doctor on the way home... the doctor's office told her to go home and assess the situation and call back. She came home... called the doctor back and they told her take her straight to the ER. Linda was just beside herself, so I went along to the hospital with her. Mark also met us at the hospital. She continued with her throwing up/gagging. Oh and she was also colorless and lethargic through it all. After a while (too long a while for a vomiting baby!) the doctor came in and examined her. They decided to do blood work and get some fluids in her system. At that point, Linda needed to run home to pump and take me back. I'm home now, but when I left we had been there for two and a half hours. Linda's going to call me later to let me know how she's doing.
Please pray for Anya. I believe the worst is over, but its just a scary situation. The worst part was seeing Anya sick and feeling so helpless. My plan for the rest of the day is to relax a bit after a crazy morning.
{And on a side note. Mom and Dad made it to BG and closed on their house this afternoon. And we got Nathan's physical worked out... so we should be all set by the end of the week.}
