MPPA POY

Nathan won the Michigan Press Photographers Association Photographer of the Year award!!! I am so proud of my husband. He said he is pretty much in disbelief. He also placed third in two categories, but this is the one to win. There's a lot of competition in the MPPA and photographers who have been in the field for years. For Nathan to win POY within his first year in the field... I'd say he's got some real talent and long, successful career ahead of him. I haven't been able to stop smiling since he called a couple hours ago.

God truly knows what we need. I knew Nathan needed a confidence boost. For months he's been saying, "I'm in such a rut! I suck! They're going to fire me!" And so on. He truly doesn't realize just how talented he is. And I prayed at the beginning of the week that God would give him encouragement and confidence. As a matter of fact, I have proof my prayer. I typically write my prayers to God. It keeps me from rambling and keeps me focused on truly speaking to God. And I found my prayer. How awesome is it when God answers a prayer, and in a way we wouldn't have even thought of. God truly knew what Nathan needed. I am so thankful today simply for answered prayers.

Translation in case you cannot read my writing (I blurred out the irrelevant portions of my prayer): "I pray that you keep my husband safe and healthy. I pray God you give him confidence in the talent you've blessed him with. Help him to grow in his job as both a photojournalist and as a man. Remove all negativity and discouragement from his mind and heart, and replace it with all that is of You."
