What an absolutely fantastic weekend!
Where to begin!? I met with Nathan and the gang in Lansing on Sunday. They still seemed to be on a high of excitement and exhaustion. Apparently the boys enjoyed the male bonding time. But we all went out to lunch before everyone parted ways. Nathan and I headed downtown to see our state's capitol... which took all of about 30 seconds. We weren't very impressed with downtown Lansing, although we found a fantastic shopping area outside of town. We spent the afternoon checking things out and enjoyed relaxing at Starbucks, chatting over Nathan's news. When I saw chatting, I mean I had to make Nathan stop trying to figure out why he didn't deserve the award, "Must have been an off year, So and so didn't enter" etc. But he really is very honored. I am still just so proud. It really confirmed that this was the right move. Had Nathan finished his last semester in BG, he'd still probably be looking for a job or have taken an internship in the meantime. But instead, he's gained full time field experience on a great photo staff (award winning staff!), managed to win the title of POY within his first six months on the job, and he's been asked if he'd be interested in teaching a photo class at Central Michigan University. He will finish his degree, but look at how his resume as grown within a year. As my mom always says, "Its another feather in your cap!" So its really just been a very encouraging and uplifting weekend. Maybe 2009 will be our year all across the board!
I was thinking there was something else I wanted to blog about but Nathan called and interrupted my train of thought. So I'll end here.

Yay Nathan!
Also, his modesty reminds me so much of Dave. Even ten years after winning the state cross country meet, Dave still talks about how it must have been an "off year." Sheesh!
